From Struggle to Stability: Marco’s Journey with Meals on Wheels

“I don’t know if I would still be under a roof if it wasn’t for Meals on Wheels OC” - Marco

Marco used to spend his time building cars, but since a debilitating fall severely impacted his mobility two years ago, he has devoted his days to physical therapy and rehabilitation. After two surgeries and unwavering determination, Marco is “somewhat walking again,” but he’s far from where he strives to be.

“This is hard,” he said. “Some days it seems I have more problems than progress.” Thankfully, since Meals on Wheels has become part of my life, preparing food is not something I have to worry about. I just pop a tray in the microwave, and it is done!”

Marco credits Meals on Wheels for providing much more than nutritious meals. He said, “The economic part of receiving the meals is enormous. I don’t know where I’d be with the additional expense of food and delivery. I probably wouldn’t have a place to live! Not only does Meals on Wheels feed the body, but they also feed the mind. I’ve gotten used to seeing the same delivery person each time now for a year and a half. It’s a nice relationship. These are good people.”

“The comfort and security Meals on Wheels provides is something I can count on, but it goes beyond that: They are like a root taking hold. Not only do the people receiving the meals benefit, but Meals on Wheels also provides relief to [the recipient’s] family, friends, and neighbors. It takes people who care like Meals on Wheels to keep seniors like me going.”
