JOE’S STORY
PROUDLY SERVING “THE GREATEST GENERATION”
Now 100 years old, Joe is a celebrated World War II hero and an inspiring example of healthy aging.
Joe was only 18 when he was drafted to serve in World War II. Joe’s wartime experiences filled him with debilitating anxiety, yet his fortitude and faith helped him emerge stronger than ever. The World War II hero received a Purple Heart and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal and the World War II Victory medal.
When his wife of 68 years, Novel, passed away, Joe needed new support. “Meals on Wheels has helped me a lot,” Joe says. “I don’t have to cook and my digestive system is much better.”
Joe also deeply appreciates the relational support Meals on Wheels offers. “The Meals on Wheels volunteers are so great. They are really wonderful people,” he shares. “They check in and make sure I’m OK.”
Thanks to you, we can continue to support those who selflessly served our country.
